Meet Heidi Mecham

Executive Director

Heidi Mecham assumes the role of Executive Director at The Workplace Disability Network of the Black Hills, bringing a rich blend of personal insight and professional expertise. With a robust background in non-profit management, grant administration, and community engagement, Heidi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to steer the organization toward new heights.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah laid the foundation for Heidi's career. Building upon this, she pursued her master’s degree in public administration at the University of Wyoming. Complementing her academic pursuits, Heidi obtained certifications in non-profit management and grant writing from Black Hills State University.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Heidi's relocation to Rapid City, SD, in 2013 marked a pivotal chapter, coinciding with her husband Daryl's employment at Pete Lien and Sons. They enjoyed a brief stint in Laramie, WY, where Heidi's involvement with the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) contributed to the ongoing growth and development of Project ECHO, a groundbreaking initiative aiding educators statewide in addressing the needs of students with disabilities.

Returning to Rapid City in 2018, Heidi and Daryl have happily embraced living in the scenic beauty of the Black Hills. With 26 years of marriage and a growing family, they cherish their roles as "Lolli and Pop" to five, soon to be six, grandchildren. Heidi's interests span from outdoor activities like walking and running to travel and quiet moments with a good book, all enjoyed alongside family time.

Combining her firsthand experiences with disabilities and her formal training, Heidi is excited to lead a new era of growth and innovation at WDNBH. Her vision aims to propel the organization forward, ensuring it remains a beacon of support and advocacy in the community.
